Population ageing is an achievement of modern society but also brings many challenges, among those, the rising prevalence of dementia. In the vast geographic region of China, life expectancy has increased sharply over the past 30-40 years, generating a high-priority demand for improving the quantity and quality of services directed to older adults, who are rapidly becoming the largest proportion of the population. Ageing is a multidimensional process and as such, older adult populations show high heterogeneity. In China, linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic diversity presents unique challenges for the reduction of risk factors for dementia and the burden and stigma associated with ageing.

This advanced study workshop will focus on the Greater Bay Area (GBA). We have invited practitioners, researchers, scholars and policy makers to consider action plans to promote healthy ageing  from epidemiological, psychological, social care and public health perspectives. The conference provides an opportunity to analyze gaps in health needs and response capacity for sustainable, quality care of seniors in the GBA.
